ACI-MS: Cisco ACI Mentored Services

ACI Mentored Services are available to both Cisco Partners and Customers

  Mentored service program

  • To maximise success for customers and partners, Cisco has introduced the mentor program to provide guidance and assistance for authorised Cisco ACI Partners.
  • ACI will represent a new skill set for most networking professionals. The program acts as a transition mechanism and pathway for skill growth of internal resources.
  • A mentored engagement for first-time ACI deployments is highly recommended by Cisco.
  • Housley is the only Cisco-approved mentor for APJ outside of Cisco Advanced Services.

  Housley ACI Mentored services

  • Housley will interact with the partner and customer (if required) to support the deployment of ACI
  • Housley will act a “white shirt” partner resource (no Housley branding)
  • The partner will retain control of the project and customer engagement

  • Housley will work at any stages of the deployment lifecycle to support the partner.
  • Housley will work within any project management and methodology framework as defined by the partner. Project management services are not part of the Housley offering.
  • Housley will not provide initial support for racking and cabling. Prior tested connectivity between devices is assumed.
  • Application treatment will be limited to “black box” level with the focus being network connectivity between components. In-depth application knowledge is to be provided by the customer/partner.
  • Housley will provide initial support on VMware hypervisor/vCenter integration. Other environments will be reviewed on a per-engagement basis.
  • Housley will only provide integration support of Cisco Routers and Switches.
  • Housley will not initially support integration of L4-L7 devices (such as load balancers and firewalls etc). This can be reviewed on an individual engagement basis.

  Lifecycle Engagement

The areas Housley can be involved in as part of the mentored service are:
  • Discovery phase - (all areas -review, recommendation and support)
        -Requirement analysis
        -Target application identification
        -Scope of Works
  • Design phase - (all areas -review, recommendation and support)
        -Design documents - High and Low level
        -Definition of Success Criteria and Testing Plan
        -Deployment/integration planning
  • Deployment phase
        -ACI setup and initial configuration – (support and guidance)
        -Application policy model implementation – (support and guidance)
        -L2, L3 and VMware integration – (support and guidance)
        -Implementation testing – (review and support)
        -Partner technical staff education and up skilling - (as required)
  • Post implementation Phase - (all areas- review and recommendation )
        -Post implementation and as-built documents


  • Cisco recommends a 2 week engagement but this will be reviewed and agreed per project
    • At least 1 week (contiguous) should be onsite with partner/customer at a time best suited to the project, with all onsite activities to be scheduled in one week blocks of time.
    • Other work can be performed remotely, if applicable, with remote tasks measured in whole day blocks of time
    • Note: Geographic consideration may influence onsite activities
