VIPTSEN: Viptela SD-WAN Deployment and Troubleshooting

The Cisco SD-WAN Deployment and Troubleshooting course (VIPTSEN) is an instructor-led, lab-based, hands-on course offered by Learning@Cisco. Students will learn how to create, manage, and operate a Viptela Secure Extensible Network (SEN). The course covers the scalable Viptela Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) configuration templates, network wide policies (control, data, and application-aware), and network management. The course follows a time-tested build, break, and fix methodology. The class as a group builds a network, the instructor then introduces a break into the system, and the students fix the problem with hands-on lab exercises.

Course Objectives

After completing this course the student should be able to:

  • Deploy the Viptela SD-WAN solution 
  • Apply skills gained to troubleshoot problems that may arise during deployment and operation
  • Create, manage, and operate a Viptela Secure Extensible Network (SEN)

Course Content

Day 1 

  • Viptela SD-WAN solution overview
  • Secure control plane bring-up, including certificate management
  • Secure data plane bring-up, including Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP)
  • vManage overview (configuration, management, and monitoring)
  • Basic feature templates

Day 2

  • Smart policies (control, data, AppRoute, and cflowd)
  • Quality of Service (QoS)
  • Troubleshooting methodology (show commands and debugs)
  • Troubleshooting and content review session
